District 306 D12 Lions Lead Rabies Education Sessions in Local Schools
Tuesday 23rd September 2025
In a continued effort to promote community health, the Lions Club of Vaddukoddai, in collaboration with District 306 D12, dedicated a day to conducting the Rabies Awareness Program. Pannagam Meihandan Maha Vidiyalayam was the second school visited for the day, and the session was generously sponsored by Lion Thiruchenthuran, allowing students to benefit from essential knowledge about rabies—a preventable yet potentially deadly disease—while equipping them with practical steps to protect themselves, their families, and their communities.
During the session, students participated in an engaging and informative program that highlighted the key symptoms of rabies in animals, how to recognize unusual behaviour in dogs, and the immediate precautions to take if exposure is suspected. Practical guidance included the importance of washing wounds thoroughly, seeking prompt medical attention, and understanding how the disease can spread. The interactive nature of the session encouraged students to ask questions and actively engage, demonstrating a keen interest in applying this knowledge in their daily lives.
The program was a resounding success, reflecting the Lions Club’s ongoing dedication to community awareness and education. By focusing on both knowledge and practical action, the club ensures that students are not only informed but also empowered to make responsible decisions that could save lives. The day underscored how education, when combined with active engagement, becomes a powerful tool in preventing disease and promoting the well-being of the community.
