This morning we went to the Pradeshiya Sabha office in Vaddukoddai to meet with the Revenue Officer, Ms. Karthika. We had previously met her on Monday, 28th July 2025, when she requested that we amend certain paperwork and provide a certified true copy of the POA, to be handed in today before 12 noon.
We arrived at the office at 10:25 AM and spoke with the OIC (lady officer). She informed us that the Revenue Officer was currently in court for a case and could not confirm what time she would return, as it depended on how long the proceedings would take.
We explained that Ms. Karthika had asked us to come today before noon. However, the OIC suggested that we return on Monday, which would be the next day the RO would be in the office. We left our visiting card with our phone number and requested the RO to call us if she was not going to be available on Monday morning, so as to avoid making another unnecessary trip. The OIC assured us she would pass the message and number to Ms. Karthika.
This was our fifth visit to the Pradeshiya Sabha Vaddukoddai office in an effort to sort out the assessment tax for the Vaddukoddai land. We believe that during our first few visits, we were not given 100% correct advice on how to proceed, which has contributed to the repeated trips.
We left the office after about two minutes.
Summary: Could not meet the RO as she was in court. Agreed to return Monday; requested the RO to call if she is unavailable to avoid another unnecessary trip.
