On Saturday, 23rd August 2025, Dr. Moditha Senanayaka of the Sri Lankan Navy, based at the KKS Road Camp, gave a call to introduce himself and share information about an initiative being carried out by the Navy. He explained that they were operating a free Mobile Dental Service aimed at supporting people in poorer areas and invited us to visit the programme site at the Ponnalai DS Office around 11:00 am. We immediately expressed our interest and confirmed that we would meet him there later that morning.
At the site, we were met by GS Sivaroopan and the Navy dentist and were given the opportunity to look around the mobile unit. The facility was set up inside a modified coach, fully equipped with dentist chairs and the necessary equipment to provide free dental care to those in need. In addition to treatment, the programme also offered valuable guidance to attendees on the proper and correct method of caring for and brushing their teeth, helping to promote long-term oral health in the community.
During our visit, we asked Dr. Senanayaka if it would be possible to organise a similar camp in our area. He explained that such a request would need to be made directly to the Director and assured us he would pass on the relevant details so that we could write to her formally.
