Meeting: Planned Project – Suspended Ceiling for School Kitchen

Planned Project – Suspended Ceiling for School Kitchen
Tuesday 30th September 2025, 12.30pm

Lion T. Uthayasurian, Lion Ravisangar, and Lion Anita met with the Principal of J/Chulipuram Aikiya Sanga Saiva Vidyasalai to review an important new project. The Principal explained that the school kitchen currently has only a roof with no ceiling, which creates unsafe and unhygienic conditions for preparing daily meals for the children. To resolve this issue, the school has requested financial assistance from the Lions Club of Vaddukoddai, with the support of the Greenland Foundation, to construct a suspended ceiling.

The Lions members inspected the situation and agreed that a ceiling is urgently needed to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the cooking area. They assured the Principal that the Club, with its partners, is prepared to provide the necessary help. The Lions also emphasised the importance of commencing the project quickly, given the health and welfare of the students depend on having a safe kitchen.

Lion T. Uthayasurian further advised the Principal to submit a formal written request so the matter could be officially presented and considered. The meeting reflected the commitment of the Lions Club of Vaddukoddai to respond to practical community needs and to ensure that schools are equipped to provide for the well-being of their children. This project, once completed, will directly benefit the students by improving the standards of hygiene, safety, and comfort in their daily meals.

  • Location: J/Chulipuram Aikiya Sanga Saiva Vidyasala

As arranged, Angkaran came with Inthusai Thamilan at 8 p.m. to collect payment for the English classes held at Bharathy Pre-School for the teaching months of June and July.

We completed the new monthly payment form before transferring the amounts to the Bharathy Kalaimanram account: Rs. 23,300 for June and Rs. 18,350 for July.

Additionally, Kirusha has started teaching English, with a rate of Rs. 300 per hour.

We further discussed the ongoing issue of the funding request for the Bharathy annual school trip. It has been decided that unless Ravi receives a formal request letter from Bharathy Kalaimanram, he will be unable to provide assistance. However, they stated they would not issue such a letter, as they believe it is the responsibility of the Parents Association to arrange funding for the trip.

Meeting with Lion Uthayasurian Anna to Discuss Lions Club Growth
Monday, 4th August 2025

We had a productive meeting with Lion Uthayasurian Anna at his home at 7 p.m. to discuss several important points and clarify ideas on how to grow the Lions Club of Vaddukoddai.

Topics covered included strategies for recruiting new members as well as engaging foreign members, with plans to discuss these further and provide updates at the upcoming monthly meeting.

Regarding Anita’s membership, it was agreed that it would be best completed after the orientation scheduled for 30th August 2025. Ravi’s PMAF contribution of 10,000 is planned to be made after the Inauguration of the Cabinet.

We explored what steps are needed to achieve the Club Status of Excellence and talked about potential projects. Ravi expressed his willingness to host a medical camp either at our place or at Bharathy, and such projects will be further discussed during the monthly meeting.

Additional points included improvements in communication; Ravi’s email and visiting card designs were reviewed and accepted. It was confirmed by Anna that it is acceptable to have visiting cards with “Lion Ravisangar” and the Lion logo.

Marketing materials for a pickup vehicle, using the framework Ravi already had, were also discussed and will be further reviewed and approved at the monthly meeting.

The recycling project coordinated by Ravi was also mentioned and will be discussed, reviewed, and, if approved, progressed at the monthly meeting. The date for this meeting has yet to be finalised.

Ravi himself informed Uthayasurian Anna that he had spoken to the HNB Manager earlier that morning, who expressed willingness to be sponsored by him to become a Lion. This news was received positively by Uthayasurian Anna.

The meeting was constructive and provided a clear path forward for strengthening the club’s impact and membership.

Summary: Met with Lion Uthayasurian Anna to discuss membership growth, project ideas including a medical camp and recycling project, club status goals, communication tools including approved visiting cards, marketing materials, and international trip plans for the Lions Club of Vaddukoddai, with key topics to be further addressed in the monthly meeting.
